Eaton Conventional reflective beam detector 5-50m (UL)

Eaton's advanced beam detector, EF-CBD50, is for use with the Eaton range of conventional fire systems. It prioritises ease of installation, whilst incorporating substantial performance improvements over previous models. This detector has been re-designed to remove the need for specialist tools or knowledge for installation and operation. One person can install the product and initiate the auto-alignment procedure for hassle free commissioning. There are two versions of the detector, differentiated by either EN54 or UL certification. Each baseline model has a range of up to 50 metres. This can be extended to 120 metres with the additional long range kit.

Cost-effective smoke detection for large, open areas

The EN & UL certified beam detector replaces the need for large quantities of individual point detectors in large open areas such as commercial warehouses, airports, schools and arenas. A building with a large area may require up to 52 point detectors to ensure safe coverage, whereas two beam detectors could provide coverage of the same area. This helps deliver a more practical and cost-effective solution, whilst making system installation, commissioning and testing much simpler.

Efficiency in power and connectivity

The detector consumes just 5mA in all standard operational modes. It will align itself in under a minute if Fast Alignment is selected. In this mode, the current consumption will increase to 33mA and then revert back to 5mA once aligned. If Fast Alignment is off, the unit will draw 5mA of current, but will take up to 15 minutes to align itself. If these current requirements are factored into the system design, the product can be used on Eaton conventional zone without the need for an additional power supply unit. Fire and fault conditions are signalled to the panel using standard zone wiring, so no additional interconnections are required.
